THE BOTANIST
The Botanist series, designed by Dario Antonioni and Brandon Lynn, features seductive botanical graphics cut into sleek metal forms. The series consists of a cocktail table, nesting and table, and bench, combining the precision of minimal design with the beauty and feminine touch of nature.
The pieces are available in for powder coated colors or two real wood veneers. The graphics will be available in the powder coated pieces. The series is incredibly flexible and can be mixed and matched easily to coordinate with a variety of environments.
Want to use your botanist products outdoors? No problem, we had nature in mind all along. The powder coated pieces are ready for outdoor use; they employ industrial grade enamels and aluminum, which naturally resist corrosion, while the word veneers bring the outdoors in.
Brandon Lynne explains “With Botanist, the challenge was in both design and manufacturing. We started with a beautiful form, and worked meticulously to ensure it would be easy for us to manufacture and sell at an appealing price.”
“The Botanist series is manufactured using advanced automation techniques that allow us to remain competitive while still manufacturing our products in the US.”
The pieces are created from quarter inch aluminum that is cut, formed, and welded. The botanicals are cut with a precise waterjet process, leaving the edges crisp and beautiful the forms are then powder coated or laminated with a real wood veneer. Aluminum makes the products light and easy to move without sacrificing durability.
“While we appreciate original modern furniture, not everyone can afford it,“ explains Dario Antonioni. “It’s important for us, as designers, to strive to make beauty accessible. Orange 22 modern is affordable luxury.“
As nature often involves and changes, so will the future of the Botanist series, which will include limited edition colors, finishes and graphics by noteworthy artists. Brandon notes “Botanist takes on the energy of fashion, evolving and reincarnating from season to season.“

SMITTEN SNOWBOARDS
Behind a subdued and simple brick façade on Walnut Street in Pasadena is smitten Board shop. The outside may seem like any other little shop but step inside you’ll find something unexpected.
“People are surprised when they look in because they don’t expect the store to look like this from the outside.“ says Liza Saciolioc, partner at Smitten Snowboards.
The set up is comfortable, warm, and inviting. Though the shop is tailored toward women boarders, it’s smart design that men and women alike have commented on. The design of the shop has a circular direction with a positive flow which draws you in.
“Everyone thinks the space is beautiful,” Liza says.
The space has an organized, well spaced, display and product setup. The board display is nothing short of beautiful and absolutely functional– boards are suspended in the center as the focal point and a succession of more boards splayed out to each side. Thoughtful details like lounge tables reflect the logo. Those who’ve seen it say it’s exactly what a board shop should be. And we’d say we are smitten.

THE FLATS
It’s a tough world out there. At the end of the day, the last thing you want are the common pressures of everyday living and stress following you home. Orange 22 kept this in mind when designing the furniture for The Flats Apartments new lobby. The challenge lies in balancing the inviting comforts of home with an untainted contemporary edge. The designs create a fresh clean space.
Cool white modular seating and milk white light tables complement the warm wood tones and brighten the space, while the low lines create a streamlined flow. The suspended sofa with large chrome ring accents add interest and a touch of fun– a nod to the porch swing. The massive square overhead light fixtures are reminiscent of skylights- infusing the space with sunshine. The pieces make a statement without shouting. The effect is a calm, serene, airy sanctuary welcoming you in.
